Massachusetts selects Avangrid Renewables’ offshore wind venture

US state Massachusetts has chosen Avangrid’s subsidiary Avangrid Renewables’ three way partnership (JV) offshore wind venture ‘Commonwealth Wind’ as a part of the state’s third offshore wind aggressive procurement course of.

With greater than 1.2GW capability, the JV venture is claimed to be the most important offshore wind facility in New England thus far and may have the potential to energy 750,000 houses yearly, whereas supporting Massachusetts’ 50% carbon emission discount goal by 2030.

Over its lifetime, the venture is predicted to create 11,000 full time equal jobs.
