Pioneer in digital and electro-acoustic music dies

A composer, professor and pioneer in digital and electro-acoustic music, who helped develop the Synclavier, an early digital synthesizer, has died.

Jon Appleton died Jan. 30 in White River Junction, Vt., on the age of 83, his son JJ Appleton stated Wednesday.

Appleton, who was born in Los Angeles, grew to become a part of the school at Dartmouth Faculty in 1967 and developed one of many first applications and studios for digital music within the nation.
